Barely two days after the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, criticised the handling of the Federal Government’s anti-corruption war, the Senate, has given a two-week ultimatum to President Muhammadu Buhari, to submit, without fail, the 2017 budgets of 38 statutory agencies. Similarly, the Senate has ordered the 38 agencies to stop further expenditures of capital budgets, pending the submission of their respective 2017 budgets. The people of Benue State seem to have had more than a fair share of tragedies emanating from attacks carried out by marauders suspected to be herdsmen. There are reports that the Boko Haram Islamic terror group has released more of the Chibok girls abducted in 2014 from their secondary school in Chibok, Borno State. While the number of girls released is yet to be confirmed, reports say they may be as much as 80. The girls, close to 300, were abducted in April of 2014 from the Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok where they were writing the WAEC examination. A few of them have over the years managed to escape the terrorist group while 22 of them were released in October last year after negotiations between the group and the federal government. The latest release is said to also have been as a result of concluded negotiations between both parties, details of which are yet to be made public.
