Although the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) was said to have returned several cash and documents taken away after raiding the Abuja home of Senator Danjuma Goje, the Force has however insisted that he must appear before ongoing investigation into the matter or risk arrest. Following the raid of the lawmaker representing Gombe-Central senatorial district, the Senate had given the police 24 hours to return documents it took from the home of the senator which was capable of delaying passage of the 2017 budget. While the documents have been returned, the Force Public Relations Officer, Mr. Jimoh Moshood, during an interview on a TV programme, called on Goje to appear before police investigation panel which he said was still ongoing. CSOs question Justice Nyako’s bail condition to IPOB leader Kanu

A coalition of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) have queried the basis warranting the Tuesday bail condition Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court, Abuja, granted the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu. The group in a statement jointly endorsed by nine CSOs namely Centre for Social Justice (CSJ), The Moldova Foundation (MF), Save Nigeria Group (SNG), Lawyers of Conscience, Kindgom Human Rights Foundation, Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO), Peoples Rights Organisation (PRO), Campaign for Democracy (CD) and Access to Rights Initiative (ARI), argued that the bail condition which they termed stringent, amounted to a denial of bail. Those who signed the statement were Eze Onyekpere of CSJ, Dr Sam Amadi MF, Benedict Ezeagu SNG, Princewill Akpakpan LC, Okere Nnamdi KHRF, Ibuchukwu Ezike CLO, Chris Nwadigo PRO, Dede Uzor CD, and Mathew Edaghese ARI. Nigeria truly at a crossroads, things are getting worse, Atiku says Nigeria’s former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has lamented the worsening situation of things in the country, and described it as a state at a cross road where things are made worse by the cocktail of economic, social and political problems.
