Bello Vows To Fight Insecurity To Standstill In Kogi

LOKOJA – Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has vowed to fight insecurity in the state to a standstill as part of his drive to bring development to the state.
The governor gave the assurance when the participants of the Executive Intelligence Management Course 10, 2017 of the Institute of Security Studies, Abuja led by their team leader, Dr A. M. Wali came on the study tour of the State.
Bello told the participants of the security course that the state government’s unrelated efforts to tackle the high level of insecurity inherited from the immediate past administration in the state and Nigeria in general was the need to make investment and development thrive in The state.
The governor said, “Since assumption of office my administration has been able to tackle over 167 kidnap cases while over 100 notorious criminals have also been arrested and facing prosecution.
“My administration equally embarked on demolition of all houses identified to be owned by either present or past armed robbers and kidnappers in the state as well as clearing of major roads to expose possible hideouts for criminal elements.
“I will never play politics with security. Security is everybody’s business as I call on citizens to join hands with the present government in its task to fight insecurity to a standstill.
“President Buhari has done relatively very well at the centre to secure the entire country from the menace of insecurity which requires the commitment of both the state and local governments to follow suit.”
Bello however, commended the zeal of the royal fathers in the state to complement the efforts of government in ensuring that Kogi remains peaceful, united and secured from the hands of bandits.
He noted that his administration’s success story in overriding insecurity and restoring good governance in the state was as a result of the cordial relationship between the executive, the legislative and judicial arms of government in the state and called for the sustainance of the tempo.
Team leader, Dr A. M. Wali had intimated the governor that the participants during their one week study tour will take a look on the development projects in the state with a view to ascertaining the level of progress made by the present administration in providing dividends of democracy to the people.
He said that at the end of their study of the state, a comprehensive report will be presented to government on their findings and recommendations stressing that they will use the opportunity to interact with both the Executive and the Legislative Arms of government on the Theme of their study “Relationship Between The Two Arms Of Government “.
