Despite return of cash, document, police insist Goje risks being arrested
Although the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) was said to have returned several cash and documents taken away after raiding the Abuja home of Senator Danjuma Goje, the Force has however insisted that he must appear before ongoing investigation into the matter or risk arrest.
Following the raid of the lawmaker representing Gombe-Central senatorial district, the Senate had given the police 24 hours to return documents it took from the home of the senator which was capable of delaying passage of the 2017 budget.
While the documents have been returned, the Force Public Relations Officer, Mr. Jimoh Moshood, during an interview on a TV programme, called on Goje to appear before police investigation panel which he said was still ongoing.
The investigators according to him are probing all the recovery that was made in the Senator’s house “and it is important that nobody be allowed to cast aspersion on the investigation of police to pervert the course of justice,” he noted.
He went further to say that “nobody is above arrest” and that Goje will “definitely” be arrested should he fail to honour the panel’s invitation to clarify certain issues in the matter.
